There's a number of things that contribute to the budget a web design project has. One thing that alters the price is the individual or company doing the design project. Some companies charge more for a few reasons:
- High Budget Overhead costs
- Skilled Web Design Employees
- Marketing Strategies
The main thing to make sure when finding a company to design a website is to make sure they are not trying to get every penny out of you possible. Some companies will take advantage of the inexperienced client and charge 2 or 3 times more than the usual going rate.
Now, obviously if you have a more skilled designer, he is going to charge more. A less skilled designer will cost less. Here's the thing. If a more experienced web designer charges $35/hour and a less experienced designer charges $20/hour you may actually end up paying the same. Wait what? How can it cost the same if one guy charges $15 MORE an hour? Well, the thing is, more experienced designers can charge more per hour because they can usually get the work done in a shorter amount of time. So even if the cost per hour is more, the designer will spend less hours working on it, making the price almost the same.
When you look at it this way, the obvious choice is the more experienced designer for a number of reasons:
- You project will be done faster
- You know he knows what he's doing
- He probably won't have any trouble figuring out anything you ask for
- Less time = less stress = Lower Budget
- He knows how to handle design updates and add-ons
By The Job Web Design Pricing
Keep in mind this is only true for hourly rate pricing. When you look at by the job pricing things can get a little more complicated. By the job pricing is usually used for more complex jobs. Hourly rates are often used for updates to existing work and simple HTML work.
Most designers will ask you to tell them everything involved with the job so that they know everything that the website needs. If you're on a budget, keep it simple and don't as for all the bells and whistles. Once the designer has a clear understanding of what all is involved with the job, he will be able to give you an accurate quote for the project (hopefully within your budget) and a time frame of completion.
